In light of the White Pine Stampede cancellation, the Cross Country Ski Headquarters would like to offer all would-be White Pine participants a complimentary weekend pass (Feb 4 & 5, 2012) to the XC Ski HQ trail network and facilities.

Because of the extremely low snowfall this winter and a few days of over 50 degrees, there are parts of the race courses that are very thin. We are attempting to make our primary courses as safe and enjoyable as possible.

Huron Meadows will be open for skiing on man-made snow this Friday (tomorrow) from noon - 8:00pm. The building will be open also, and they will be renting headlamps! They will also be open Saturday and Sunday. $5 trail fee to help pay for snowmaking.

The 4th Annual "Soup-er Bowl, Women & Snow" will be held on Sunday, February 5 from 1:00-4:00 PM at Timber Ridge Resort's Lodge, where it's always warm & cozy around the fire. Come XC ski, snowshoe & make new friends.

Land use rules restricting equestrian and bicycle use at Blueberry Ridge Pathway in Marquette County will remain in place without change. Blueberry Ridge is best suited to low-impact uses such as cross-country skiing, running and hiking.

Spring Skiing is the best and along with the warmer temps out pop the snow fleas – tiny little insects that love to pile up your cross country ski tracks. I got a huge kick out of all the snow fleas last week during the best Spring Skiing in January that

Storm total accumulations across much of northwest Lower and the eastern U.P. will likely exceed one foot by Tuesdsay morning, with much less amounts heading toward Saginaw Bay. Snowfall rates will occasionally exceed 1 to 2 inches per hour.
